De’Jona had a rough start to last school year — she missed 11 of the first 45 days of school. To combat De‘Jona‘s attendance issues the CIS-R Site Coordinator at her school, Ms. deRoo, invited De‘Jona to join the school’s Announcement Team — this required De’Jona to be at school every day.

Each week De’Jona delivered the morning announcements to the school. This responsibility taught her to be at school on time and to speak with the four key words of the team (Articulation, Enthusiasm, speak Slowly and Loudly). De’Jona emerged as a great leader – she now coaches another person on the team! De’Jona’s attitude towards school & her attendance continue to improve.
