Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering in the Richmond area schools. Communities In Schools of Richmond partners with Richmond Public Schools and Henrico County Public Schools to support area students with resources, programs and services that aim to help students be more successful in life.

The first step in the volunteer on-boarding process is for you to attend a one-hour joint RPS/CIS volunteer orientation. Here is the link to choose a date that works for your schedule: RPS/CIS Volunteer Orientation.

During this orientation, we will cover uploading your vaccine card into VolunteerHub and completing the required background check.

As a potential volunteer, you are asked to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and to be able to provide a copy of your vaccine card for our files. You will also be asked to provide a 50-state background check completed within the last two years. If you do not have a current background check, we can provide you with an on-line link to the website we use, Sterling Volunteers. The cost is $24.80 per background check.
