Communities in Schools The CIS Mission
To champion the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school and prepare for life.

Communities In Schools of Richmond, Inc., is one of over 200 non-profit affiliates of Communities In Schools, Inc., the largest stay-in-school network in the United States. Incorporated in 1996, CIS of Richmond is devoted to serving the students in 24 Richmond Public Schools by connecting community resources with schools to help every child gain access to the "Five Basics":

A personal one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
A safe place to learn and grow
A healthy start and a healthy future
A marketable skill to use upon graduation
A chance to give back to peers and community
